NT Chastleton Hayloft
Chastleton House is described as ‘a rare gem of Jacobean Country House’.
It is owned and managed by the National Trust and is open to the public to visit in restricted numbers. At the time of our appointment staff were based in the house in a number of temporarily furnished, unheated rooms, an arrangement that was unsatisfactory for both staff and visitors, and the delicate fabric of the Grade I listed house was suffering.
After review of options we made detailed proposals for converting the estate stables adjacent to the house into a new open plan office. Working closely with the Trust and English Heritage we agreed a scheme and secured consent for the conversion of this Grade II* listed building. Works included new access, insulation, services, openings and structural alterations, as well as ASHP heating, all carried out on a tight budget and timescale. We were appointed from all states from inception to completion.
