Development of a standardised scheme for upwards extensions to the existing houses in Elliott Square, part of the Chalcots Estate in Swiss Cottage NW3.

This design for the new roof extensions followed extensive consultation with Camden planning officers and neighbours.  Initially developed for a row of 9 houses facing King Henry’s Road the model is now in the process of being rolled out across homes on the Chalcots Estate.

Permission for the first phase was granted for the scheme on the basis that all 9 houses were built out in a single phase. Post-planning involved close collaboration with neighbours to meet their varying requirements. The  roof extensions are finished with zinc and are highly insulated, with facade set back from cornice line and picking up the fenestration below.  Carefully detailed and finished to a high standard the scheme became an exemplar for development of other houses in the estate.
