Nathan Ireland

Nathan studied architecture at the University of Liverpool and University of Westminster.  Since joining BHA in 2014, Nathan has worked on a range of both new build and conversion projects from inception to completion.
A skilled and imaginative problem solver, Nathan has developed particular interest in complex urban sites and the way new interventions can work with and enhance existing contexts. He was senior project architect of the Future Programme at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, responsible for delivery of new public spaces across the Palace site including the complex conversion of Abbey Strand, a series of Category ‘A’ listed buildings to house new new hotel apartments and a learning centre. Other key projects include the adaption of the Grade I listed buildings at The Queen’s College, Oxford to form a new Porters’ Lodge and improved student accommodation, the award-winning new welcome buildings for the National Trust at Mottisfont, new housing development in Camden and renovation of several listed houses.
Nathan has thorough knowledge of issues associated with complex conversion projects, with hands on experience renovating a barn and remodelling his own house in a Victorian terrace in East London.
Nathan became an Associate in 2022.
